Itinerary

Day 10.2 nm · 2m

1

Salerno

Start

Start point. Crew meets at the boat by 17:00. Check your charter contract for the exact marina, the main yacht marina here is Marina d'Arechi, east of the city. Do the big shop in Salerno before check-in. Provisions for the first 3-4 days, drinking water, snacks and personal items. Prices and choice are better here than on the coast ahead.

2

Point 2

Point of interest · 0.2 nm 🌙 Overnight here

First night in the marina. Boat check-in with the charter base, inventory, safety briefing, cabins. Provisions go on board. Evening in Salerno, a walk along the Lungomare and dinner in the old town. We leave next morning after breakfast. The first leg is short, 2.9 nm to Cetara, about 30 min at 6 kn.

Day 28.0 nm · 1h 20m

3

MPCX+7C Салерно, Италия

Point of interest · 0.2 nm
4

Cetara

Point of interest · 2.7 nm

Swim and lunch stop, 2.9 nm from the marina, about 30 min. Small fishing harbour famous for anchovies and colatura, the local anchovy sauce. Anchor off the village in settled weather and stay outside the buoyed swimming zone, in summer normally 200 m off beaches and 100 m off cliffs. After lunch 5.1 nm to Amalfi, about 50 min.

5

Point 5

Point of interest · 1.1 nm
6

Amalfi Harbour

Marina · 4.0 nm 🌙 Overnight here

Overnight in Amalfi harbour. Book a pontoon berth in advance (Marina Coppola, VHF 72), it fills fast in summer. Slips are tight and fresh southerlies make a back-eddy off the breakwater. If no berth is free, take a buoy outside the breakwater and use the water taxi. Fuel dock open 08:00-20:00 in summer. Evening ashore, Piazza Duomo, the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea, dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 36.3 nm · 1h 3m

7

Conca de Marini

Point of interest · 1.7 nm

First swim stop of the day, 1.7 nm from Amalfi, about 17 min. Quiet village under Capo di Conca. Close by is Grotta dello Smeraldo, the Emerald Grotto, a sea cave found by a fisherman in 1932. The water glows green from light entering below the surface. Inside you visit by boat only, no swimming. Conca is also known for the Santa Rosa sfogliatella pastry.

8

Furore

Point of interest · 1.0 nm

Swim stop off Fiordo di Furore, 1 nm, about 10 min. A narrow gorge cut into the cliff under the road bridge of the Amalfitana. Too tight for a charter yacht and no docking at the beach, so stay outside the entrance and go in by dinghy or swim. The beach is sometimes closed for rockfall, check local notices and keep away from the cliff walls.

9

Praiano

Point of interest · 1.2 nm

Swim stop off Praiano, 1.2 nm, about 12 min. Quieter than Positano next door. Marina di Praia is a tiny cove between the cliffs, and Gavitella beach on the west side of the cape stays in the sun until late. Go in by dinghy. Mooring buoys are used on this busy stretch, so take a buoy rather than drop the anchor near swimmers. Then 2.4 nm to Positano, about 25 min.

10

Positano

Point of interest · 2.4 nm 🌙 Overnight here

Overnight on a mooring buoy, Positano has no marina. Call the mooring service on VHF 77 in the morning and book a buoy off Spiaggia Grande, in high season they go early. Anchoring is only possible far out in deep water. The bay is open to the south and rolly from boat traffic until evening. Go ashore by water taxi or dinghy. Evening walk through the steep lanes to Santa Maria Assunta with its majolica dome. Dinner ashore.

Day 412.7 nm · 2h 7m

11

Li Galli

Point of interest · 3.4 nm

Three small private islands, in legend the home of the Sirens. Landing is forbidden. This pin, 3.4 nm from Positano, is inside Zone B of the Punta Campanella marine reserve (rules 2026). No anchoring, and boats over 10 m may not motor inside the zone and have no buoys here. So we pass under sail for photos or stay outside. For a swim use the reserve's Scaricatoio - Punta Germano anchoring area on the way, daytime only. Never enter Zone A around Vetara rock, west of the islands.

12

Nerano

Point of interest · 3.6 nm

Swim and lunch at Marina del Cantone, 3.6 nm from Li Galli, about 35 min. Reserve rules 2026. Anchor only in the designated Marina del Cantone - Recommone area, 08:00-20:00, at least 100 m off the beach and 50 m off cliffs, never on Posidonia. Or take a Mortelle buoy, 15 euros per hour or 45 per day up to 20 m, no booking, approach at max 5 kn, no swimming inside the buoy field. Fines start at 300 euros. Try spaghetti alla Nerano with zucchini and provolone.

13

Capri

Point of interest · 5.7 nm 🌙 Overnight here

Overnight on the north side of Capri, 5.7 nm from Nerano, about 1 h. We cross Bocca Piccola, the channel between Punta Campanella and Capri. Wind can funnel here 5-10 kn above forecast and ferry traffic is busy, keep a good lookout. Book a berth at Marina Grande months ahead (expensive, ferry wash) or anchor west of the harbour on sand. Holding is not the best, so check the anchor twice and show an anchor light. Funicular to the Piazzetta for the evening.

Day 57.2 nm · 1h 12m

14

Blue Grote

Point of interest · 1.5 nm

Blue Grotto, 1.5 nm, about 15 min. Arrive as it opens, around 09:00. The light is best in the morning and later the wait can reach 1-2 hours. Entry is only in the small rowing boats of the local boatmen, lying flat under the low entrance. Swimming in is forbidden during opening hours. About 20 euros per person, take cash. It closes with even a small swell, so check that morning. The skipper stays aboard and stands off.

15

Marina Piccola

Marina · 4.0 nm

Swim and lunch stop on the south side, 4 nm round Punta Carena lighthouse, about 40 min. Anchor on sand in about 9 m off the Scoglio delle Sirene, outside the buoyed swimming zone. In a scirocco swell this side is unsafe, move on. Afternoon ashore by dinghy or water taxi. Bus up to Capri town and on to Anacapri, chairlift up Monte Solaro for the view over the whole gulf. The skipper stays with the boat.

16

Grote

Point of interest · 0.9 nm

Slow late afternoon pass along the coast to the Faraglioni, 0.9 nm, about 10 min. Three stacks up to 109 m. Mezzo has the famous arch and Scopolo is the only home of a rare blue lizard. In 2026 Capri announced a no-go belt for motor boats around the stacks with buoys and patrols, so stay outside any buoy line and check the current ordinance with the Capri harbour office. Visit the sea caves here only by oar or swimming, and only in calm water.

17

Faraglione bay

Anchorage · 0.8 nm 🌙 Overnight here

Overnight at anchor on the east side of Capri, 0.8 nm past the Faraglioni, off Punta Massullo with Villa Malaparte. Sheltered from the west, the usual afternoon breeze. Open to the east and south-east, so with scirocco or easterly swell go round to Marina Grande instead. The shore drops steeply, pick the spot by chart and sounder, on sand, not Posidonia, anchor light on. Nerano is not an option for the night, the reserve allows anchoring and buoys only 08:00-20:00. Dinner on board.

Day 613.2 nm · 2h 12m

18

Nerano

Point of interest · 4.4 nm

Swim and lunch at Marina del Cantone again, this time the Recommone side, 4.4 nm back across Bocca Piccola, about 45 min. Same reserve rules, designated anchoring area 08:00-20:00 or a Mortelle buoy. Baia di Ieranto next door is off limits for our boat, its buoys are only for local companies. You can walk there from Nerano on the trail, about 1 h each way. Leave by 15:30 to reach Sorrento for the evening, 8.8 nm, about 1h30.

Point of interest · 1.0 nm 🌙 Overnight here

Overnight off Sorrento, 8.8 nm from Nerano round Punta Campanella, about 1h30. On the way pass west of Vervece rock, it is Zone A where all navigation is forbidden. Anchor on sand in about 8 m off Marina Grande, or book a berth or mooring at Marina Piccola (Porto Turistico). Open to the north, in a northerly take the berth. Evening in town by dinghy, the old lanes, Piazza Tasso, limoncello, dinner ashore. Early start tomorrow, the longest day.

25

Punta Campanella

Point of interest · 1.2 nm

Rounding the tip of the Sorrento peninsula, 6 nm from Sorrento, about 1 h. Pass west of Vervece rock again. Leave early, wind and steep waves build in Bocca Piccola during the day. On the next leg the straight line on the map clips Zone A around Vetara rock, where no boat may go. Keep south of 40°34.6'N until east of 14°26.5'E, that clears Vetara and Li Galli, then turn for Positano.

26

Positano

Point of interest · 8.0 nm

Swim and lunch stop off the west end of Positano bay, 8 nm from Punta Campanella, about 1h20. Anchor well clear of the beaches, anchoring is banned within 300 m, or pick up a buoy on VHF 77. Keep it short. 14.5 nm and about 2h30 still to go, so leave by 14:30 at the latest to reach Salerno by 17:00.
