Guide for Travelers

Find a verified captain, agree on the details, and set sail.

How booking works

Search by destination, dates, and number of guests — or browse trips near you on the map.

Open a listing and read it carefully — boat, route, what's included, captain reviews, and any extras to budget for.

Look for the verified badge on the captain's profile. It means we've checked identity, license, and boat documents.

Send a booking request and start chatting with the captain.

In chat, confirm the things that matter most: meeting point, time, route, who's on board, what to bring, total price, and how you'll pay.

Once you've both agreed, settle payment directly with the captain — SailsSearch never collects or holds money.

Show up at the marina on time, sail, and leave an honest review afterwards.

On the mobile app

Open the app — the home screen shows trips near you.

Search by location, or use filters for date, boat type, price, and group size.

Open a listing and read everything — captain profile, reviews, what's included.

Tap Apply to send a request and open the chat with the captain.

Use chat to confirm the details that matter — and agree on price and payment method directly.

Once confirmed, the trip shows up in your calendar.

If plans change, message your captain first. Our team can help mediate if needed.

After the trip, leave a review — it helps the next traveler choose well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Proposal Mode?

It's an activity format with a flexible date. The organizer indicates readiness to host an event, and participants choose a convenient time and book a spot.

How much do seekers pay?

Travelers pay only the price agreed with the captain. Some trips are priced per person and others for the whole boat — the activity page shows which, so you always know your total before you request. SailsSearch is free for travelers — we don't add fees or commissions, and we don't process payments.

How safe is the platform?

Captains are verified — identity, sailing license, and boat documents are checked before a listing goes public. Captains and travelers review each other after every trip, and our team is reachable if something goes wrong.

What types of activities are available?

Trips, regattas, training, delivery (yacht transport), charters, and sailing instruction — all on one platform.

Can I edit a published event?

Yes, update information anytime through the My Activities or Organizer section in your profile.

How quickly does booking happen?

Confirmation takes 1–2 days on average.

Do I need a sailing license as a seeker?

No, if you're a participant or guest on board. A license is only required for organizers to publish activities.
