About this sailing adventure
There's a stretch of coast between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo where the jungle comes straight down to the ocean, wrapping every bay into its own natural amphitheatre. Locals call it Costa Verde. It's one of the most underrated sailing grounds in the world. More than 300 islands sit along this coast, each with its own lagoon, its own shade of turquoise, its own mood. Tucked between them is Saco do Mamanguá, the only tropical fjord on the planet: a narrow emerald bay ringed by mountains and rainforest, where the water stays calm and warm. There's no ocean swell here and no strong wind to fight. Anchorages are everywhere, passages are short. More time swimming and exploring, less time on watch. Along the way: Paraty, a 17th-century colonial town on the UNESCO World Heritage list, its cobbled lanes and coloured doors barely changed in three hundred years. This is a trip built to be lived, not just seen: waking up at anchor surrounded by jungle, finding a new lagoon every day.
